So I was driving down a dark country road, I had just been out in the afternoon to scout out a location in the country to view a Moon and Pleiades conjunction. Always easier to find a new location during the day then head back out at night.
I was driving what seemed like forever looking for the turnoff that would get me to the place I needed to be but I couldn't find it, must have missed it, but how could I have, I thought there was a sign, did I drive by it? I started getting a little anxious, was I on the right road, the millage was off compared to what it was the first time out, drove what seemed like forever, pulled over and turned around and headed back towards safety and home. Wasn't more then just a few minutes and straight head a sign I was looking for pointed me in the right direction, wow talk about being relieved.
Took my images packed my stuff away and started home... true story, as I was heading home a car came towards me with his brights on, as I looked away I noticed in my rear view mirror the sign, all big, green and shiny and I thought to myself how on earth did I miss it?
Life can be that way sometimes, always easy to see clearly when looking back at stuff then it is when your in the middle of it. I will be away for awhile looking for my next signpost but this time not fretting about the destination. I want to thank all of you who have given me so much encouragement the last couple years with your kind comments, we've laughed, we've cried, mostly laughed though and I treasure every last moment we've shared.
I thought my latest Sunset clip would be fitting for my "Last Post...for a while". With every Sunset there is a Sunrise, and with it a new day with new hopes and aspirations...so no goodbyes...just good memories.

I'm happy for your journey but hope we don't lose touch, Bob. You're a gem and I'm glad to have met you.
Aw Bob. I've been thinking about you, missed you. And now I'll miss you longer I guess. I wish you only the best. You have a unique, fun, and fascinating blog here, and you'll always stand out as one of the best I've known. It's been marvelous! I LOVE your sense of humor, and I am pretty sure that will get you through to the next signpost.
All the best to you. You will be missed. I'll be looking to see when you come back.
Thanks Bob, as always. I've been able to learn from your blog and from you in general. I'll do my best to keep everyone informed and possibly educated in your absence on my blog. Hope all is well. Take care.
Bob you know you wrote something very true: 'Life can be that way sometimes, always easy to see clearly when looking back at stuff then it is when your in the middle of it.' I will remember that dearly, because we do get wrapped up with so much and sometimes I do to forget what's important, and see it afterwards.
I don't even know what to write, but what I know is that every post, every visit you paid me, and encouragement you gave me when we started to blog couple of years ago including hunting for lunar eclipses, moons will not be forgotten, these will all be a happy memories to me that will always put smile on my face.
I am glad that you are leaving your blog as it is, whenever I will need astronomy refreshment I will visit here, and of course I will hope that you will be back again.
And now this is angry me speaking, why in the world always the good one have to leave :-(.
Take care yourself, and thanks for leaving with a positive attitude - that is how we all succeed.

Thanks for the memories! Thank you for sharing your knowledge of stars, photography, refractions of sunlight, things in 3D and more. I hope you will stop by from time to time and leave at least a "Hi" in my comments.
Happy Trails!
Bob…I..even I was speechless for some time as your words sunk in…I just hit the 2000 Blogger ceiling limitation for labels at Life on the Blade…no more labels Bob…a signpost…while researching my issue over at blogger unhelp a topic that had been raised was getting a large amount of comments…it seems many of the best blogs have recently started shutting down…a signpost…however I have been breeding blogs like a rabbit in a bramble…Bob you are a treasure of a blogger and as a person…I am almost left speechless…I miss you Bob…may you rest in His grace…enjoy my friend…enjoy…for awhile then come back and let us see more of that Moon dust…or perhaps reinvent yourself…need a bright red sports car?
ah well...good luck! Hope to see you back.
Hey Bob- Good luck with whatever you're doing. Thanks for taking the time to write such awesome blog posts and to take such beautiful pictures. I have enjoyed getting your posts in my inbox and always was excited when I got a new one!
I hope to read you one day again :)
Come on now, you are not THAT far up north, and you are not a bear. So, what's up with the hibernation talk?
I'll miss you. I learned a lot here.
Hi Bob,
I will miss your blog very mich. On every visit here, I learned something new and now that void will be left. Actually I didn't quite understand what happened, since you described in metaphorical terms, but whatever it is, I wish you all the best and success.
cheers,
Priyank

Well Bob, at this stage I felt compelled to leave a comment. I totally understand your need to step away. I've done it..and it's been totally liberating. I have always had your blog in my feed reader, as well as a few other cherished ones, reading it stealthy before my daily shot of the online news ... and after reading this last post felt compelled to let you know that I will miss your posts. Yet, knowing you, bigger and better things await you. It's inevitable isn't it? We hone our skills in blog world, learn and grow, then take the next step. Good luck and take care my friend. It's been a privilege knowing you.

Bob, I've been having difficulty keeping up with blogging, both posting and commenting, because of building, furnishing, and moving into this house over the past few months.
Now I'm surprised and very disappointed to find you are leaving. I hope it's for a happy reason and not because of difficulties.
I think you've been a great blogger and your posts have been chock full of information and inspirational, as well. I'll miss you and hope you get back soon.
The signposts of life are not always obvious, but in my opinion, what's important is that we eventually find them.
Can't wait to hear that you're back among us...
Take care!
Hi Bob,
I've been away for a bit and was shocked to see this was your "last" post for a while.
I'd like to wish you all the best--you will definitely succeed in wherever the road takes you. You have an innate sense of direction, along with intelligence and humor...these will take you a long ways.
Thanks for sharing on your blog--it's been a pleasure.
I say no goodbye to you then, Bob. I will miss you and your photos and sure hope that one day I will see you around again.
Good luck with your new adventures :o)
Hi Bob!

I have been blogging for just barely a month and I found you through entrecard ... WOW! you are amazing ... thanks God for your existence in this world. Inspire us more!
Jeez, I stop coming by for a little while and look what happens...
What a jaw dropper. I'm completely bummed. Blackholes indeed, you're definitely creating a void by going away.
I am REALLY gonna miss you.
I came by today because after watching the Ares launch I thought, man, I haven't visited Bob's blog in forever. I wonder what he's got to say about Ares? I think about you every time I look up and see a planetary body anywhere near the moon. I always think, "Bob probably blogged about a conjunction recently and I didn't know because I haven't checked his blog again this week."
I'm too disappointed to be positive and wish you a good journey. Not today anyway. Too depressed. I'll work on wishing you good things tomorrow. Today, I'll pout.
Just came across your blog. Hope your back soon! =)
wow very nice and good blog friend!
I enjoyed all that you shared through your posts; always enjoyed visiting your site and hope to see you soon !
Best wishes and take care.
