Arrival

Just got my latest edition of Meteorite Magazine and there were some interesting facts in it about the Buzzard Coulee Meteorite, so I thought I would add some of my interesting Microscopic meteorite pics to the fold to better illustrate what I'd like say in this post.

You may know that back on November 20 of last year a 10 tonne meteoroid collided with our Earth's atmosphere over Saskatchewan creating temperatures as hot as the Sun, exploding with the force of 300 tonnes of TNT and witnessed by 1000's from British Columbia to Manitoba, what we have come to know as the Buzzard Coulee Meteorite. What you may not know is that 12 other fireballs were spotted across the globe that same night from Florida to Scotland.........coincidence?........perhaps, but how do you explain the above suspicious looking alien monitoring device thingy with an arrow, probably pointing to a landing site?

On the opposite side of the suspect bug,(image above), was another suspicious looking item, kinda like a telecommunication Fiber Optic strand, image below.

Or how bout the microscopic image below of Martian Meteorite NWA 4925, hey look at where it joins the meteorite, such fine alien craftsmanship.

Or how bout the image below , a 2 parter of another suspect fiber from Martian Meteorite DAG 476. People..... look at it, it's in the shape of an ear, those crazy Martians, they're messing with us, leaving all kinds of clues thinking no one is going to be wacky enough to figure them out.

When I first opened up the package of my Buzzard Coulee meteorite I commented on a post it smelt like space....the more I think of it , it may have smelt like burnt electronics....interesting.

Finally the microscopic image above of Martian meteorite LA 002. This has all been in fun, thought I better add that since in real life people don't know if I'm joking or not, I am joking around, just in case you think I'm nuts, well yes I am, but I really don't believe that is a cucumber above.

Apparently I wasn't the only person to smell the meteorite, there were 3 other reported incidences of odd smells, but during the fall, also one reported case of heat. Someone felt heat on the side of their face and then turned in the direction of the heat to catch the fireball.

Lots of reports of sounds of the fireball crashing through our atmosphere, as far away as Avonlea Saskatchewan, 500km away from the crash site. People witnessing the sonic boom and light show actually went out looking for the fall site only to be disappointed to find the fall was hundreds of kilometers away.

Lastly I'd like to leave you with an animation of a place I had lunch at while searching for meteorites. I had a moment, stopping and taking it all in, that I was lucky enough to be searching for rocks from space. As I was looking around I noticed a meteorite, just sitting there a few yards away, right in an area the whole search team had just been a few hours before. I got up and walked further only to find yet another meteorite. It is a place I will remember for the rest of my life.

ok, you had me going until you fessed up. i was like...OMG! yea, i know, i'm pretty gullible...hehehe

Are you serious about smelling? LOL :) Exploration and discovery is thrilling indeed! Especially if you find things at unexpected time, say while having lunch.

Bob Johnson said...

Lol PJ, I'm sorry, I sometimes forget I'm blogging and not actually talking face to face with people and that some things like what I wrote can be misunderstood and taken serious, especially with the odd images I post from time to time.\m/\m/

Hi Priyank, yes it is true, there have been many reported instances of people receiving their meteorite opening it up and smelling odd smells, probably due to the various minerals being confined to the bag and then suddenly opening it up to the trapped smells, it is a very unique smell, sometimes I put one in a bag for a time and open it up and experience it again.\m/\m/

It starts as idle curiosity. Of course, some try to hide behind the guise of scientific research, but it soon becomes apparent what is really going on. For snorting elk droppings from outerspace does not follow any protocols that I am aware of.

Glad you put in some magic as well ... :-)

Bob:

Okay, maybe we should start calling you Orson Wells. Remember his radio broadcast?

Very intriguing pictures. The first one is especially interesting. It looks like a tiny resister or rectifier. Am I aging myself?

Happy trails.

Bob Johnson said...

Hi FishHawk, so true.\m/\m/

Bob Johnson said...

Hey Anne, thanks, and thanks for dropping by.\m/\m/

Bob Johnson said...

Lol, yes I remember the story or War of The Worlds, and yes the good ole days when resistors and rectifiers looked like this, I took telecommunication technology in College.\m/\m/

Hi Bob, I commented earlier on the Mars post, I think you have a very interesting blog and I am so glad you found mine and left your entre card so i can find you.
Love outer space and what ever goes with it.
I remember very clearly when I was about 11 or 12 we were in a drive in theatre in Windhoek, the old South west Africa, and for a moment it was very quiet. the next moment I saw a flash of a shooting star in the sky, only thing that bothered me was that a few moments later I also heard a shooop sound. NOw at the time my logic told me that it is not humanly possible for me to hear a sound all the way from space. Now that I have read this post I am thinking, could that sound have been when the what ever it was entered our atmosphere and burned out?
I also want to ask you if it will be possible for us to see the big dipper from South Afica? I always read about it in my westerns I have of Louis L'Amour but I do not know where to find it.
I subscribed to your blog, I find it very interesting!
Thanks for dropping on mine.
Have a great trip to China!
Colin.

Bob Johnson said...

Thanks Kathy, The colors are beautiful, like another world down there in the microworld.\m/\m/

Bob Johnson said...

Thanks sexy legs and body, you can absolutely hear and smell meteoroids, the sound is the meteoroid not being able to push the atmosphere out of the way fast enough and the built up energy taking the form of an explosion.

You can only see part of the Big Dipper and only in May down there, low on your northern horizon at night as it is just to far north for you, we up north can't see certain constellations that are too far south as well.

Thanks for subscribing and wishing me a great trip to China, should be a once in a lifetime experience.\m/\m/

Oh my goodness, Bob! They have landed, didn't they? :o)

Hey Bob,

Hmm...I do not believe in coincidences, so...do you think the meteorites contain alien spying devices? Has anybody analysed that "alien monitoring device thingy with an arrow"?

Indeed, indeed...it does look like a fiber optic strand...oh my God, Bob...have you realised what this may mean?

"leaving all kinds of clues thinking no one is going to be wacky enough to figure them out." - they don't know you yet, Bob. lol ;)

"the more I think of it , it may have smelt like burnt electronics....interesting." - LOL LOL LOL LOL you kill me! LOL

"(...) just in case you think I'm nuts, well yes I am, but I really don't believe that is a cucumber above." - ROFL...ok, I do not wish to encourage you but it does look like a cucumber...

All sorts of cool stuff happen in your town, Lord of the Astrostuff cause where I live these things never occur...
You are indeed blessed :D!

Have a great week, Bob :D!

Cheers

Thanks kRiZ cPEc.\m/\m/

Lol Ivanhoe, stay tuned for my next post,lol.\m/\m/

Bob Johnson said...

Lol, thanks Max for the encouragement, lol. Hey what can I say, this is the type of stuff I think of, makes life a little more interesting don't you think, lol.

One thing, at least I really do smell the meteorite, and have let other people smell it after locking it in a bag for a while, they are amazed as am I.\m/\m/

i do not know if it is just my browser or internet connection acting up right now but i am missing (or not seeing) the pictures, i will go back here again tomorrow to check out if my browser works already, as i am excited to see the macro shots of the meteorites.

Bob Johnson said...

Hey betchai, too bad I think you'll like them, hope they work for you tomorrow.\m/\m/

Well i am not getting what you are showing:

Mike said...

Hey,

Thanks for the post - I remember reading about this meteorite through spaceweather.com It was very interesting.

Bob Johnson said...

Hi Character Education, you are the second person that has mentioned that to me, looking into it to see if there is something on my end, I can get the images on my work computers except for one that has IE6 on it.\m/\m/

Bob Johnson said...

Thanks Mike, it was given pretty good coverage by the mainstream media as well.\m/\m/

i get to see the pictures now, i use IE instead of Chrome to see all pictures, so i figured I have trouble with my Chrome browser. Now, I can relate more to what you are saying :) i actually actually almost smell the burning electronics or the space from the pictures.

Bob Johnson said...

Thanks betchai, glad you were able to see the images, chrome doesn't work on some of the stuff I go to as well, seems to be getting worse for some reason.\m/\m/

Hi! The suspect fiber from the Martian Meteorite looks to fragile to have survived the impact. Could it have developed after landing?

Look at that, I'm an expert all of a sudden! Forgive me!

Another reason I'm here is that I downloaded FireFox 3.5 and wanted to see how your site looked and how quick it loaded.

I've always used IE and of late, Google Chrome, but I find, to my pleaure that I LOVE Firefox 3.5.

Do you think Mr Gates will get upset knowing that I've ditched one of his products?

My old computer with IE 7 or 8 would take sometime to load your blog but now, using FF, it's up in a flash!

Anyway, great article again!

Take Care,
Peter

Bob old boy no need to get everybody all worked up about an alien invasion! We will not have any known contact till First Contact April 5, 2063. A Vulcan survey ship will observe the first warp flight from Earth by space pioneer Zefram Cochrane and will then initiate official contact. It could be worse...it could be the Dominion or the Borg...

Cool rock stories by the way :)

AngelBaby said...

I know how you are - You just want to have some fun! LOL! I love to have fun too.

So cool to find all those meteorites and others had just been there. I think the meteorites were waiting for you to pick them up and take them home.

Love and Blessings,
AngelBaby

Bob Johnson said...

Thanks Peter, you are quite the expert, I thought the same thing, they could have developed during the cool down phase of the meteoroid falling to Earth... or they could actually be Telecommunication Fibers, they are pretty resilient, lol. I am glad you found firefox 3.5, it is the best out there so far for audio/visual stuff.\m/\m/

Bob Johnson said...

Lol thanks Livingsword, of course that is the first known contact, Martians are pretty secretive though, not as forward as the friendly Vulcans,lol.\m/\m/

Bob Johnson said...

Thanks AngelBaby, it was very exciting to see them just sitting there waiting to be found by moi.\m/\m/

Livingsword said...

Hi Bob,

I am so thankful that you don’t really believe in Martians…I mean that would just be silly…Vulcan’s on the other hand…

Live long and prosper….

Bob Johnson said...

Lol Livingsword, live long and prosper as well.\m/\m/
