Happy Anniversary to Me

July 4 was my one year blogging anniversary and what an adventure it has been. I remember my very first comment from Mighty Morgan and what a thrill it was, first it made me think "wow, someone is actually reading my stuff", but it also made me think , "crap someone is actually reading my stuff", never counted on that.

All I ever wanted to do with this blog is somehow try to put into words the feelings I have when I'm under the stars and how, if you just look up you too can enjoy what is so freely given to us, but how can I put into words, feelings I don't understand. Enter pictures, after all a picture says a thousand words, less words for me to write, cool.

One thing I didn't count on was the relationships I would make along the way, different people all with their own passions and ideas on how to make the blogging world a little more interesting and fun and how they communicated them to me through their poetry, writings and images, and I thank you all for that, for I am now the learner and not the learnee, no wait... I am now the learnee and not th....., I am the grasshopper.....no,......I am.....I was.... never mind, you get my drift, I'm getting more out of this experience then I ever thought possible.

People it's been a blast bringing you the most current happenings in the night sky through my imaging this past year, well worth spending countless hours under dark skies and on distant roads, and bonus I have gained some interesting experiences, most of them will never be talked of further, but filed away under "YIKES" if my wife only knew, she'd never let me out to play again. I'll leave you now with a clip I put together of some of the Canada Day fireworks we had here in Saskatoon, thought it would be fitting for my Anniversary.

Happy anniversay Bob. Your images are awesome and it's been a pleasure to learn from you too. I've always had a soft spot for the sky at nigth and had a telescope in my youth but when I got older i found new hobbies and it got put on the shelf. Now as I get into my 'old age' I am finding the sky at nigth a spledour again. Maybe I will find time to take some images myself as i progress in my photography.
Anyway Thanks for sharing and here's to the next year.

A great tribute to your one year's anniversary to blogging.

For all the nice things you said, I can only say that, as a loyal visitor to your site, I have not only enjoyed myself immensely, but I have also learned a great deal about the Universe we call home. I never saw the Moon in such clarity and detail. I never saw the Milky Way as you captured it spread out over the northern skies like a ribbon of diamonds. And I have certainly never seen so may conjunctions since I left grammar school English class many many eons ago. For all of this, I would have to call you a sage instead of a grasshopper.

May your next year of blogging be even more enjoyable than your first.

Happy stargazing.

Wow Bob Happy Anniversary \m/ !!!!
I just missed mine, I think it was June 29th, and I remember the days you used to religiously visit my blog because of the moon photos I had, and I used to visit yours in return, lol, not sure why, lol, just kidding, because you have cool telescope. I think I have to give you lots of credits for letting me too start in the right direction. All you said in this post is so true, and I am glad that you enjoying it, and yet there will be many more years to come of blogging fun. Anna :)

Thanks Jesse, glad you like the Big Dipper, believe it or not but of all the 1,000's of images I have taken, this is my favorite, I don't know what it is about it, it just is, and the view live was unforgettable, how the clouds parted just for an instant just for the dipper.\m/

Happy Anniversary. I just came across your blog. It's great.

We have been blogging for less tha 5 months now. It's fun and educational, but a lot of work and time consuming. I may start doing more Astronomy posts now.

I have a Celestron CGE1400 and a TeleVue 85. Both just recently purchased since retirement.

I will add you to my "Nature and Science Sites" blog roll. I'll be back tonight and spend a little more time.

Have a great day,
Troy

Congratulations Bob!

It's indeed strange how a blog becomes an integral part of life. If I see something awesome, even before I understand the awesomeness of it, I am thinking to myself how wonderful blog entry it would make. lol.

Considering that its been just an year, your blog is already running around capturing the whole place. You'll have more fun coming up.

Thanks for introducing me to a whole new world :) If anything, your blog has gotten me interested in blackholes and astrostuff ;-)
