Black holes and astrostuff new look and 100th post

I've been saving the above picture for my 100th post, taken February 19 it is one of my favorite Moon images, the Moon brings the clouds to life, I like to call it, Moon in clouds with tree branches in the bottom left hand corner......picture.

I'd like to thank Lady Omega for doing such a great job of designing the new look for Black holes, all her hard work and continuous emails asking technical questions, like, how do you feel about wordpress or blogger, backup this, backup that, blah, blah ,blah, silly Lady Omega, my major concern is if I can get the little funny guys in the comment section, you know those emoticons you can add after your comments, there is a little green alien guy to die for, still working on it.

My 100th post today, I had something deep prepared for this special occasion, but after reading it I thought, this truly sucks, finally said to myself, "Bob step away from the post, step away from the post", you can't do deep, you only got what you got. Therein lies the problem, space is deep. My mission from the outset of this blog was to bring the universe to you from the viewpoint of a guy with a telescope, so that maybe you can somehow feel the wonder and excitement as I do, oh and you would all go out and buy a scope and live happily ever after.

I'm not an intellect or a writer, but being both those things would make it so much easier, well life's not like that, at least not for me, so all I can do is continue to do what I've been doing, inform you about the latest happenings in the night sky, so you can walk out your back door, look to the stars and have a better understanding and appreciation of all that has been given to us, maybe just for a moment you can forget your daily woes, they will be there once you walk back in the house, but for a time you will have gained a little of what God has so graciously bestowed upon me, a love for the utter magnificence of our cosmos.

Your new look is fantastic, so mysterious and great! I love it, Bob!

And stay with your blogging as you are, that's the reason why I (we) come to your blog: to see, to learn and to enjoy the wonders of the universe - brought to us from you!

Very very nice Bob. Truly an awesome header and the new look is great. Truly professional looking.
And I can see why you were saving that shot. Quite inspirational to say the least.

See? Told you I would still be around from time to time; just a different reality my friend. Like a chattering ghost LOL

I'm glad to see you haven't become jaded like me. I like the fact that you "throw" (not quite the word I was looking for but I hope you know what I mean) the info out there...makes for a very enjoyable read.

Anyways, take care Bob. I'll be checking for your next post.

Hi! Me again. I couldn't miss out on not commenting on your 100th post, now could I? Congratulations again.

This fantastic image is like a scene straight out of the hounds of the baskervilles movie, its so spooky.

To me, your articles and images are always truly deep and meaningful.

Keep on keeping on with what you're doing, it's great!

Regards,
Peter

Nice changes. I love the banner and the new look.

Nice shot of Mars. Really something.

The moon with the clouds sure makes a nice GIF.

Congratulations, Bob. You did it again!

The new page looks great Bob! I am becoming addicted I find myself coming everyday to see if you have any new postings up. Its sad that most people miss everything that is going on right above their heads.

Hey Bob! I love those pictures. Great site design. I live where all trees are around me. I would be able to film the moon probably and nothing else. It sounds like fun. Lucky for your blog I can see some great stuff.

well good golly
i salute you and congratulate you
for 100th post and FANTASTIC photo of the moon. awesome job.
and you are a good writer, anyone who makes me smile as much as you do has something going for them. I'm not easily amused.

love the new look...only two thoughts: the page is too big for the screen and it sucks to scroll right to see it all.

kinda dark, hard to find the comment thing to click.
other than that, wow, i'm jealous!

Hey Bob - I really like the design and images. It is a good look. The only thing I noticed is that the text with a blue or purple font, (like the day and date on top of the post and the comment information below the post is hard to see. But then again my eyes are more than 50 years old!

I think that given your description of what you want this site to do, you should not change at all. There are more than enough technical sky sites out there that are impossible for us to understand. I like the way you alert us to and explain things that are happening above our busy lives.

I also like that you are always very polite when answering the rather elementary questions that I come up with once in a while. LOL!

-Will

Hey suwbird, glad you like the images, and the new look, the Mars one I find especially cool.

Bob Johnson said...

Thanks sherer, glad you like the new look and thanks for dropping by. Thats why I started the blog, try to get people out looking at the right time when something is going on, we don't usually think of these things, sometimes too many other things on our plate right in front of us, takes us away from the stars.

Bob Johnson said...

Hi Mike glad you like the images, did you get your new camera? if so how is it going? any images?

Bob Johnson said...

Hey thanks Paula, you are too kind, glad I can make you laugh.

I will have to check into the wide thing, see if there is anything that can be done, and on my laptop, I have no problem seeing the comment section, but on my crt, there is a problem, see what we can do.

Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Bob Johnson said...

Hey , thanks Will, Paula brought the color to my attention as well, have to look into it.

Glad you like the way I do the blog, as far as answering questions, love it, a lot of the times I have asked someone the very same questions when I first got into astronomy that you are asking me now.

Hi Bob,that is a stunning moon image.Might I also say "congrats on your 100th post"!.Heh,yeah you can't get any deeper than space. Not being a writer myself,I often find myself staring at the monitor trying to come up with a spiffy way of saying things when all it takes is a beautiful image, like the ones that you post!.Keep up the good work and I hope to see another 1000 post.

I think you have done an admirable job of accomplishing what you set out to do... I do think of you when I step out the door at night and look up at the night sky... I do find so much of interest here... I have learned and continue to learn each time I come here.

The moon in the clouds is just awsome! Wow! Eye candy!

You have truly blessed me my friend….

Hey Andrew, thanks, glad you like the pics, your right, that's why I post pics, they say a picture says a thousand words, that's a good thing sometimes when your at a loss for words, you and me are alike, you talk with your wonderful images as well.

Congratulations on your 100th. I need to look back and get caught up a little bit!
The moon with clouds reminded me of Frodo's journey with mystery and spookiness all around.
Keep blogging just the way you are!

Bob Johnson said...

Thanks Don for dropping by and your comment, good one about the comparison to Frodo's journey.

Your site looks PERFECT to me. The header is astronishing (hehe I just made up that word for you and your blog).

I liked reading what you wrote about wanting to do something here, reflecting on it, and deciding to stick to what you do best. That is a great summary of life, and what each of us should be about. I feel that I'm constantly reassessing that for myself and my blog too. Thanks for being open. And thanks for "just" doing what you do, which is great, and because you keep it simple, we stay with you. But "simple" is the wrong word, since this content is pretty ASTRONISHING!

Bob Johnson said...

Wow, thanks for the new word Ruth! that is very cool, astronishing, I'll have to fit that into a post somewhere down the line, I will add it to my word spellcheck.

Glad you like what I did here with the post, good point about reassessing our lifes as well as our blogs, they are in fact an extention of ourselves, to be at one with the blog, resistance is futile, lol.

100 posts, great job. I really like the new layout, especially the three columns and the header image. Though I have to agree with self taught artist, it is a tad bit dark, but hey it is about the night sky so its ok. All I have to say Bob is just keep it up, I love what you are doing and what you have been doing, all of the pictures and updates.

Hey Bob!

Happy 100th post :D!!!!

I must say that I like what you have done with your place: classy!!!!
What a gorgeous photo!!! The clouds look so comfy...I felt like sleeping on them and using the moon as my pillow.
The crescent moon is also beautiful; but the one seen through the lens is awesome!

You don't have to be an intellectual nor a writer cause you have a soul that describes in perfection whatever you see through your telescope: that is a gift; God given gift :D!
Great Gif!!!

I have added your blog to "My awesome friends" boxroll :D!

Cheers
